Blasts from the Past

Have you got a question you'd like to ask the Tunbridge Wells first team management? If you've got a reasonable question to ask, don't hold back, email Steve Gibbons at [email protected] and have it answered in this column!

Rocket asked..Hi Gibbo. “Rocket” here. Great to see Martin, you, Hatch, G-man and Bournie at the Wells again and Gary Stevens taking an active interest.  So, here’s the “Ask Gibbo” question: Who will win at Villa Park on Sunday 23 April ?

Gibbo says: Well it certainly won't be the Villa as we just don't win games any more and certainly not many at The home of football that is Villa Park.If we don't pull our fingers out David O'Dreary will find himself in the Championship...but thats not who you meant will win as you favour the "other" side in claret and blue the Hammers. West Ham have only the FA cup to go for and after 'Boros 1-0 defeat in the first leg of their UEFA Cup Semi they must have one eye on the return leg at the Riverside. I think this may prove a distraction for the next England boss Steve McLarens (god help us) Side. If the hammers can keep Jimmy Floyd Midlandbank and Viduka at bay then they stand a great chance, but i think it may go to the dreaded penalties. With the Hammers squeezing through, get your passport ready Ron you may well be going to Wales.

Laney asked:Gibbo seeing as you seem to have the answer for most things have you got any spare Cliff Richard tablets for an ageing has been goalie?

Gibbo Says: Well Laney if i had any spare i'd use them to revive an aging has been Goalkeeper turned centre forward who would love to be back out on the pitch.I can't believe you'd have to ask unless the fountain of youth you seem to drink from has dried up.

Just in case anyone doesn't know who "Laney" is he is Mark Lane who played in the Kent League for years for many different clubs and is just about the nicest bloke you could ever play football with or against.Which is remarkable considering he is a northerner! Laney anytime you find yourself at the Wells come say hello pal and you'll not have to buy a drink all afternoon. Hopefully see you soon.
