Tunbridge Wells enjoyed a decent Bank Holiday Monday crowd of 185 for the visit of Sevenoaks Town - and to all intents and purposes put in a shift that had everything except the killer touch. Unfortunately, Sevenoaks Town made the most of their first half opportunity and left Culverden with their first points of the season, thanks to a goal on the half-hour from Bricknell.

"I was as disappointed as you are when we lose a game," first team manager Martin Larkin commented afterwards. "I’m not sure what else could have been done without actually putting the ball in the net! We limited Sevenoaks to a single header in the second half and one shot on target in the first half. Unfortunately that single shot in the first half crept in!

"We delivered 30-plus crosses into the box and had 10 efforts on target with another eight off target - none of which we were able to convert. We got the ball down where we could and played using the width. The front-two held the ball up well but we simply couldn’t find the final touch. All of this, to the fan, probably doesn’t matter as we have lost the game, simple as that.

"But our play has improved with each game we have played, and we now need to get the results our play deserves. The only thing we can do is to work even harder which with this group I know won’t be a problem."
