Alas, Tunbridge Wells stalled to a halt having made a wrong-turn into a cul-de-sac along the Road To Wembley and never actually getting beyond the town's perimeter. Instead Beckenham Town cruised by and over the horizon - next stop Chertsey.

The day began badly with Greenways putting Beckenham in front after little more than five minutes, and although The Wells held firm for the remainder of the half, that nasty habit of conceding shortly after the break continued when a penalty was conceded on 49 minutes and Alfie Nunn dispatched. Midway through the second period, Beckenham extended their lead further through Turner - and although Jason Barton looked to have scored a consolation effort three minutes from time for the home side, Beckenham hit back in stoppage time with a fourth via McKone.

"Everything that could have gone wrong went wrong," Martin Larkin told www.tunbridgewellsfc.co.uk afterwards. "An offside goal and a penalty that wasn't put us up against it - but we don't make excuses and we simply didn't play well enough. We struggled to move the ball with any pace or conviction and we have limply dropped out of the FA Cup, which is a massive disappointment to all involved. On the plus side, we created four or five good chances in the last 30 minutes, and happily there were no league points at stake!"
