Home Comforts Bring End To Losing Streak

Tunbridge Wells stopped a 5-game losing run with a home draw against Woodstock Sports that very much demonstrated the strength of the squad at Culverden. Chris Oladogba was tested after ten minutes when Woodstock were awarded a penalty, and he proved equal to the task when he dived low to keep it out - his second penalty save within the last 7 days.

Into the second half, The Wells had a scare when lengthy treatment was administered to top scorer Andy Irvine before he was stretchered off and replaced by Jack Harris. Within minutes, however, the home side found the breakthrough and Brad Large rifled Tunbridge Wells in front (67 minutes). The lead lasted all of eight minutes before Lewis Taylor hit back for the visitors. There would be no further scoring and both sides had to content themselves with the 1-1 draw.

"I was really happy last night," first team boss Martin Larkin told www.tunbridgewellsfc.co.uk afterwards. "We gave the guys that played Monday a complete night off and the team we put out did themselves a lot of credit and deserved really to win the game. Chris saved another penalty, Boyley was great at the back, and Keelan and Sinden were a handful the whole game.

"Irvine is ok. He has a slight back spasm, but he is walking around fine now and will be ok for the weekend, although seeing him stretchered off certainly hit home how big Wembley is for everyone! The crowd was good again and we have stopped the little rut that we were in. It's full steam ahead again now."
