WELLS THROUGH TO KST FINAL

Anyone concerned that 14 days without a match might have caused Tunbridge Wells to go a little rusty ahead of this Kent Senior Trophy Semi-Final match need not have worried. Likewise anyone concerned about The Wells having lost home comforts and instead playing this match at the home of Kent League table-topping Erith & Belvedere. The Wells were razor sharp and evidently completely unphased by the change of venue as they set about their business of reaching their third Kent Senior Trophy final in the space of less than ten years.

The first period saw no goal action, but with half time looming, The Deres were reduced to 10-men after Sam Groombridge picked up a second yellow card and his marching orders. After the re-start, The Wells wasted little time in making the man advantage count, and within two minutes Jon Pilbeam finished smartly from the edge of the box to put his side a goal to the good.

Although Jason Bourne came off midway through the second period, Tunbridge Wells had the bit between their teeth and the lead was doubled by Jack Harris after 74 minutes to effectively put the game beyond Erith & Belvedere's reach. Yet more was in store, and five minutes from time Harris pounced to score his second and Tunbridge Wells' third and add some glamour to the result that sees Tunbridge Wells take their place in the Final against Lordswood at Tonbridge Angels' Longmead ground on April 14th.

Of course, with a jam-packed end of season run-in, you could be tempted to worry about how Tunbridge Wells are going to cope with the fixture pile-up they now face. Years like these come around rarely, however. Enjoy it for the now. You'll spend enough time thinking back, remembering the excitement generated by this particular side in years to come.
