With a few days' rest, Tunbridge Wells returned to winning ways on the road at Canterbury City. Following a goal-less first half, a further six minutes ensued in the second period before, on 51 minutes, Carl Cornell broke the deadlock for The Wells. Within three minutes, he doubled the lead and The Wells were cruising.

12 minutes from time Steve Baines reduced the arrears for the home side, but in stoppage time Jon Pilbeam was on hand to restore the two goal cushion and secure a 3-1 win for The Wells.

"I thought we could have been far more clinical and should have scored seven or eight. The amount of times we beat the offside trap and were either wasteful or wrongly flagged offside by the linesman was incredible. But there were glimpses of what we are capable of, and it was a tough game as you could see the boys had Wembley on their minds.

"Another positive was a good 25 minutes for Tom Davey on his return to the squad, so we will get him 90 against Cray and then assess him."
