Reserves unbeaten in 9

Sevenoaks Town Res 0 Tun Wells Res 3

This comprehensive win against the league leaders extended the Reserves unbeaten run to 9 games. Wells started the first half uncertainly due in no small way to the bobbly surface and goalkeeper Mark Newbould pulled off 3 excellent blocks to keep the score level including an outrageous stop to prevent a Sam D’Arcy own goal following a deflection from a Ross Mills clearance. From the moment Wells took the lead the result was never in doubt as Wells totally dominated throughout the rest of the game. Man of the Match Dave Batt worked tirelessly and led the line superbly and was unlucky not to cap a fine display with a goal late on. Wells took the lead on 18 minutes when Chris Stokes did well to hook the ball back from the bye line to ALBIE BARTON who stole into the near post and whipped his shot high past the startled keeper. Wells then took control and after more pressure they went 2-0 with a superbly worked and finished goal. Alex Rich did superbly down the left and fed the ball into the area to Chris Stokes who laid the ball back to ALBIE BARTON who hit it first time from the edge of the area and it flew past the keeper into the far corner giving Albie 3 goals in the last two games from midfield. The half ended with Wells on top

HALF TIME Sevenoaks 0 Tun Wells 2

The second half started with Wells in control and playing the ball around well. Mark Newbold had nothing to do in the second half as the defence gave Sevenoaks little joy. Ross Mills shot just over on 65 minutes after good work from Alex Rich on the left.

An incident mid way through the half resulted in a Sevenoaks forward being sent off for head butting Mike McKeown which resulted in Mike having to come off with a badly cut mouth. The head butt came from the same Sevenoaks player who kicked out at a Wells defender and only got a caution.

Wells then continued to dominate the game and Dave Batt stretched to reach a Ross Campbell cross and his shot just went over the bar. On 75 minutes Wells completed the scoring after another period of possession Albie Barton fed the ball through to debutant Seb Orkjeza who ran through, drew the keeper and then unselfishly laid the ball back into the path of SAM PHILIPS who thumped the ball home from the edge of the area, despite the player on the line. Dave Batt then shot just wide from an acute angle as Wells finished well on top towards the end of the match.

Manager Mike D’Arcy stated ‘The most pleasing aspect of the game was the way our defence kept a clean sheet away from home against the league leaders. The defensive trio of D’Arcy, Kent and McKeown held firm and the defensive work of Mills and Barton meant we looked really solid after a hesitant start’. 'We have scored 9 goals against the table toppers in two games so not a bad improvement since we took over 3rd from bottom'.
