Tunbridge Wells were beaten at Beckenham, despite putting in a decent performance. Jon Pilbeam was back on the scoresheet for The Wells just before half time - an effort that cancelled out a Weir opener for the home side.
However, Beckenham hit a winner just a minute from time to send their visitors home empty handed.
“Obviously we're upset with the result, but we have to take the positives out of it," first team manager Martin Larkin told www.tunbridgewellsfc.co.uk after the match. "We played really well, had three shots blocked on the line (two of which were blocked by hands), and had a perfectly good goal disallowed for offside - so it was not all bad.
"Jon Pilbeam played very well and took his goal well, and Tom Davey was the best player on the pitch. Charlie Sharman got some minutes in his legs and looked good.
"Their first goal was a horrendous penalty decision and how the referee deemed that to be a penalty, and not the two handballs on the line is beyond me. But then, we haven’t had much luck this week with referees!
"We have a big week of training this week before the visit of Corinthians next Saturday - and hopefully we can play as well for our home fans as we did for our away fans this week, while grabbing a result for them this time around!" |
