Tunbridge Wells avenged a 0-3 reverse on the road to Corinthians to beat them 4-0 at Culverden. Benji Agana got the ball rolling by scoring before the break, while Andy McMath made the game comfortable within ten minutes of the break.
An own goal made it 3-0 before Jason Bourne popped up a minute from time to give the scoreline some real gloss.
“I'm really happy," Martin Larkin told www.tunbridgewellsfc.co.uk after the game. "It was a bit of a shock to be playing after all the rain, so a lot of credit goes to Joe Croaker and Darrell Cousins - and the referee.
“Also, a special mention should go to Phil Allcorn who spent Friday afternoon painting the now infamous Tunbridge Wells lines. They were a real help as they were so 'zig-zaggy' that it gave our wingers a guide to follow when they were attacking their full backs! In all seriousness, it's help like that that the club really needs - both Phil and Wynette have been a great help on match days and all of the first team appreciate it.
"I thought we were excellent - we controlled the game from start to finish and created lots of opportunities. Benji Agana was superb as was Andy McMath who scored an exceptional goal. It was good to have Sam Phillips and Steve Ashmore back from suspension too.
"We asked our full backs to get more involved today, and both Alex and Jason responded well, Alex putting in some superb crosses in the first half and Jason capping a fine game with a second half goal. All-in-all, I'm very happy."
Larkin also contacted www.tunbridgewellsfc.co.uk on Monday morning to give a mention of Jason Bourne who ran the Tunbridge Wells half marathon on Sunday. "He finished in the top 50 out of 3,000 in a time of 1 hour, 28 mins which is exceptional considering how heavy the pitch was the day before! A superb effort!” |
