Wells got their season off to a flyer, with nobody quite sure what to expect from Sporting Bengal, whose new manager oversaw some promising performances to close the season last year.

So a 6-0 win to kick-off the campaign will have left everybody at Culverden feeling pretty pleased. Benji Agana marked his return to the club with a brace, and Mike Lord also hit two. Alex Rich and Jon Pilbeam, scoring his first goal for the first team closed out the scoring.

Commenting after his first competitive game in charge, Martin Larkin told www.tunbridgewellsfc.co.uk, "We were pretty happy with that. The goals we scored were very good goals, five of them were from crosses which is something we have really worked on in pre-season so that was pleasing.

"They (Sporting Bengal) were actually quite dangerous going forward - they had two players that would have got into our side on the day, which means they will surprise a few this year, I think."
